CASTERS
CASTER
Casters are the lowest-level mages. They are capable of casting the most standard spells and growing into what are arguably the most powerful adventurers, whether they pledge all their loyalty to a god, themselves, or the people they yearn to protect. They are seldom sturdy or physically powerful, but their powerful minds and magical know-how will navigate them out of any skirmish almost as adeptly as any warrior.
-- Can be any alignment. At level 5, must become a cleric, a sorcerer/sorceress, or a warlock/witch.
CLERIC
Many believe that clerics were granted their power by the gods to whom they pledge their faith. Others, however, believe that they are normal mages who devote their time to learning magic to appease their gods. Clerics are devout worshipers of gods and spend time emulating their ways. Either way, most clerics will be the healers of a party or the ones granting power from the backline. Most clerics prefer to spend their time learning spells to bolster others, as opposed to spells that will harm the enemy.
-- Can be any alignment, but must be within one step of their god's alignment. At level 10, will become a priest/priestess of their god.
PRIEST/PRIESTESS
Clerics ascendant, these casters were actually given power by their gods and have a direct line of communication with them through prayer and divine intervention. They provide by far the most powerful backup and are even capable of doling out significant damage should they choose to do so. Due to their divine powers, they are the only ones in the game capable of resurrecting the dead through prayer, although it is incredibly draining and usually only done for the most powerful and promising of adventurers. They are the only ones who are able to speak directly with their gods because their devotion has been proven.

SORCERER/SORCERESS
Crusaders against what is impure and evil, sorcerers and sorceresses believe that violence against monsters and other evil beings is justified. Unlike clerics worshiping under benevolent gods, sorcerers are good for their own reasons, often due to a desire to protect people and maintain law and order. While they may worship gods, their power comes from studying and force of will. They often yearn to help and do what is right and most will only fight if they believe it is for the right cause. Many do not adventure for a monetary purpose or to reap material rewards, but to help people and purify the world.
-- Must be a good alignment. At level 10, can become a light mage.
LIGHT MAGE
Sorcerers who have become paragons of virtue can ascend to light mages, attaining power from the essence of good. They dedicate their powerful magic to helping people and maintaining order. Their extreme level of power makes them valuable resources for people to go to in their time of need, although it is not easy to take advantage of a light mage's kindness -- they are often highly perceptive and will often see through any guise to get help for nothing. Some light mages, after attaining such power, choose to settle down in a city and dedicate their power to helping people.

WARLOCK/WITCH
Mages who use their magic for selfish reasons, or use their magic for chaos and violence not for the good of helping anyone other than themselves can choose to become a witch or a warlock. These mages seldom have magic that could be considered useful or helpful anywhere outside of combat. Some of the greedier witches and warlocks will take up mercenary work to fill their pockets. It's important to note that they are not necessarily evil, however -- they are just highly self-motivated.

DARK MAGE
Where light mages are the casters that people will crawl to begging for help, dark mages are those that people will crawl away from, begging for mercy. Although certainly not all dark mages are needlessly cruel and violent, the most powerful ones often let the power taint them in such a way. While many choose to keep their near-boundless power concealed, others choose to flaunt it and use it as a tool to manipulate people into doing what they want. Dark mages are the ones who are capable of inflicting great pain and raising thralls from the dead. They are just as powerful as light mages, only without the restrictions of loyalty to stop them.
-- Can be any non-good alignment. Does not necessarily have to be evil, although the alignment of many will be pulled down and to the right.
